building a greener future —
together.

At Climate and Community Laboratory (CCL), we believe that addressing climate change and economic inequality go hand in hand. Creating pathways to sustainable careers lays the foundation for a more equitable clean energy future.

Our Mission

We connect communities to opportunities in the growing clean energy sector, with a focus on neighborhoods that have historically faced both environmental challenges and economic barriers. By bridging this gap, we're helping create a more diverse, skilled, and resilient workforce ready to tackle tomorrow's environmental challenges.

What We Do

  • Workforce Development: We provide comprehensive training programs that equip participants with the skills needed to thrive in the clean energy sector. Our programs go beyond technical training – we offer career coaching, job placement assistance, and ongoing support to ensure long-term success.

  • Community Partnerships: We collaborate with local governments, businesses, and community organizations to create lasting change. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, we're building a stronger, more sustainable future for people nationwide.

  • Environmental Justice: Our work prioritizes communities that have been disproportionately affected by environmental issues and economic inequality. We believe that those most impacted by climate change should be at the forefront of creating solutions.

Meet the Team

Building on a Proven Track Record

CCL is the next iteration of the workforce division previously managed by BlocPower — so while we were established in 2024, our team has years of experience powering the decarbonization revolution through innovative workforce development programs.

Over the past decade, BlocPower has been on the leading edge of building decarbonization and green retrofits in underserved communities. In 2021, BlocPower's leadership recognized that the biggest hurdle to scaling this critical climate work was a shortage of skilled labor. BlocPower launched its Civilian Climate Corps training program in New York City to create a pipeline of green construction workers, with a focus on providing opportunities for Black, Brown, and low-income individuals.

The Civilian Climate Corps model quickly proved to be a success, launching subsequent programs in Newark, Boston, Philadelphia, and Houson. To date, the program has trained over 4,000 participants and changed countless lives.

Leveraging the expertise and relationships developed under BlocPower, CCL is poised to further scale this work and create pathways to sustainable careers in the green construction industry for communities that have historically faced barriers to employment.

We've partnered with many amazing organizations to build the diverse, skilled, and resilient workforce of tomorrow. Get to know the dedicated change-makers that make up our CCL family.
